The Expendables Will Appear in The Suicide Squad Theory

Will James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ connect the DC and Expendables franchises?

So right off the back I know this theory is probably a little bit farfetched to say the least. Just hear/ read me out.

One Big Connection:

Despite both the Expendables and Suicide Squad films having hug ensemble casts, as far as I can tell only share one actor. And that’s including the 2016 thing with Will Smith. Sylvester Stallone is the only to appear in both.

So what? That doesn’t mean anything. Yeah, you’re 100% right. Sure, chances are Stallone is appearing in The Suicide Squad because he enjoyed filming Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, which was also directed by Gunn. Also, Stallone’s character has bot yet been revealed, and may not even be revealed until the film’s release.

But just think about it. The Expendables are a group of highly skilled mercenaries who fight bad guys. The Suicide Squad are a group of superpowered mercenaries who fight bad guys. The Expendables are basically the Suicide Squad just without superpowers!

Plans for Expendables 4:

Stallone has stated that he’s interested in making an Expendables 4, and maybe even an Expendables 5 down the line. Expendables 3 came out seven years ago, and Stallone is 74 now. He’s doing good for his age, but he ain’t getting any younger either.

So what if James Gunn or some studio executive decided to combine these two franchises? By now it’s pretty common knowledge that Disney has aqquired Fox. The company that owns the rights to DC films.

We also live in a world where is aqquiring everything they can get their Mickey Mouse-sized hands on. First Star Wars, the Marvel, Fox. Is it really that unbelievable that Disney would buy The Expendables at this point? Plus, if it means anything, Gunn has stated he has plans for future DC spinoffs.

How It Should Be Done:

Gunn has pretty much all but confirmed that a large portion of the cast is going to bite the dust. That being said; at the end of the movie ( ideally in a post-credits scene ) Barney Ross emerges out of a cloud of smoke. Revealing that The Suicide Squad and The Expendables are connected. Mic drop.

Full disclosure, I recognize I have essentially 0 actually evidence that there is any truth behind this theory other than loose speculations and coincidences. But that’s just what this is; a theory. That being said I’ve also never seen any of the Expendables films. Maybe I would if certain streaming services would have the first one available. No. 2 & 3 are watchable, free of charge. But not the first one. Does that make sense to you?

And again, I realize the odds of this happen are extreemly slim to none, but if this happens – then o damn! I deserve some street credit! Anyway. What did you think of my theory? Do you want this to happen? If so, lemme’ know in the comments below.
